Default How hard is it to integrate a normal template into ZenCart?

    Hello all,
I have asked someone to design a new template for me, however he says that he will charge an additional fee to integrate the template into Zen, otherwise I have to do it myself. I havent tried to do this before, so I wonder how hard is it? I have experience with PHP and mySQL, I dont know how Zen's template system works yet tho.
So do you think if I should try to do it myself or just pay the additional fee to avoid the hassle? (Im on a tight budget so I hope I can save as much as I can)

Thank you very much for the help!

PS: if you want to recommend a designer/coder then you are also welcome, but please do it via PM.

You need to clarify what the designer considers a "normal" template.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

The designer considers a "normal template" as a template that contains only html and css codes.

It is true that coding a Template for any Shopping Cart takes more time & effort.

The important thing is ask, does this person have experience with ZenCart specifically. Reason being is that the 'overrides' setup should be used so that you don't lose your custom Template settings, when future changes or upgrades are done.

You should have, or be provided, the original Template as an HTML page. This provides all the images and layout needed, if someone else needs to work on your site. Also provides you with a way of knowing what your site "should" look like, regardless of any script being used with it.

As these type projects can cost upwards of $500 and take 1 - 3 weeks, pay no more than 50% upfront, balance due upon your approval of completed work.

    Thanks so much Website Rob,
Your information is really invaluable, I have now sent the questions to the designer to clarify things first.
