    Default Renaming and Moving Images

    G'day,

A client has begun the process of adding their products into their new store. I set up a structure for them with separate image directories for each manufacturer in order to keep things orgnised. Image Handler 2 is being used so that they need only one image file to cover all of the image sizes.

I gave them strict guidelines as to how to name images and stressed that they be extra careful to ensure that images are being uploaded into the right directories.

But of course, plenty of images have been loaded with bad filenames and in the wrong directories.

Is there a utility about that would enable someone to step through the images names in the database in a specified order (e.g. by manufacturer), and enable the image to be renamed and moved with the new details being put into the database.

For example, 'Product X' from "Manufacturer 1" has the filename "product x.jpg" and has been uploaded into the images subdirectory. By entering 'manufacturer1/product_x.jpg' as the new image filename for the Zen Cart database, the actual filename is also renamed to 'product_x.jpg' and moved to the 'manufacturer1' directory.

I'm hoping this is enough of a problem that someone has already come up with a workaround. Any ideas or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

    Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

Doesn't matter how slowly you write those instructions for clients, they still get it wrong!!

Whilst waiting for a mySql guru, one option would be to use Easy Populate and do all your editing in Excel

    Off topic:

Lloyd...Great Photo! Way to practice self promotion! I was just reading about promoting ones site, and often people will buy because of the person, not necessarily because of the product.

For instance, I sell many of the same products you'll find in the big brick and mortar stores, however it's my of site marketing of articles about backyard birding that attracts people to my site. Obviously by now some of you have realized that I'm pretty wordy in my answers and I do imbued my personality into my writing style. Many readers are touched by my writing style and buy from my eBay store because of it, and of course the fact that I won't sell junk.

Well, at least that's my belief system about self promotion. So keep at it!
