    customer issue Create Account Password Error

    Up until yesterday customers were able to create accounts without a problem. Today customers trying to create accounts are getting this error " Please try again. Our system requires at least 5 characters."

    Nothing in the stores admin panel has changed and I am at a lost. I do remember having this problem awhile back and I searched the forum for the answer but couldn't find anything specific to the password error. Can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest a fix?

    what is the setting in the Configuration ... Minimum Values ...

    Ajeh, its set at 5 - but it doesn't matter how many characters a customers has in their password - they still get the error.

    Is it possible that one of the files used to create an account is corupt? Is there a list of these files that I could check for and re upload? Maybe a database problem?

    I am just grabbing at straws since the store is live and new customers are emailing me for an explaination.

    First, try switching turning off the Secure URL in the:
    /includes/configure.php

    Just set it to false

    Does create account work?

    Next, switch to the Classic Template ...

    Now can you login?

    My current customer and I do not have a problem with login. What 's happening is new customers aren't able to create accounts. Should I be able to create an account simply by logging out and creating another account or would my active "session" prevent me from doing so? What I can't seem to figure out is why I am being stopped from creating an account by the password error or why this has become an issue in the last few days without any changes being made to the program.

    I will attempt your suggestions and get back to you.

    I emptied the sessions database and turned Secure URL to false and still could not create an account but had no trouble logging in.

    I then switched to the Classic template and still could not create an account but had no trouble logging in.

    I am using a different computer so I am sure that the IP question isn't relevant.

    Just as a test, change the limit to 4 ... does the error message change to say 4?

    Thanks Ajeh - you're the bomb!

    Turns out it was the Forum Nickname field not the password causing the problem. Once I entered a Forum Nick Name at least 5 characters long I was able to create an account. I changed the miminum value to "0" just in case it was confusing the customers that emailed me.
