Search Box Issue

I have the following in the box controller:
sideboxes/search_header.php = ON
sideboxes/search.php = OFF

What I want is to have only the search box in the header. But with the above settings, the search box appears in the header and in a side box. How do I get rid of the side box?

Turn the sidebox header OFF for the LEFT/RIGHT and ON for the SINGLE ...

Can you tell me what css tag I need to modify so the search text input box will be smaller in height and width?
