Can I turn off the alpha filter?

Hi folk,

On a category list page, there are two drop-down lists just above the products in the category. One allows me to "Filter results by" Manufacturers and the other allows me to select products that start with a letter of the alphabet. I don't need that second one and would like to turn it off.

I found in admin/configuration/product listing that I can turn off the category/manufacturer filter, but I want that one. I can't find the switch for the alpha filter. Can some kind soul tell me where it is?

Which is illustrative of a general problem I have with the admin interface. Someone should sit down behind a few newbs while they try to figure out how to set things up in Zen Cart, then modify the admin interface accordingly. I wonder if there is a team set up to look into that? If so, I have a few suggestions already.
