email Error when signing up as customer

I used Zen Cart several times but this is the first for a customer on a windows Server.

When i try to login.. it return to Guest Login Screen
However it logs on the admin as customer has logged in # of times

No email sent to Customer.

any ideas. Windows server, set Setting as described in FAQ tried several options.

changed Email server to Localhost.. Now the user gets confimation Email but still get the Error Message and when trying to log in.. still shows as guest and Admin logs the Login in

If you were to switch to SMTPAUTH instead of SMTP, and fill in the fields for SMTP settings, does it work better ?
