Zone Ship settings by weight not right

Can someone please verify that this would work as weight:

NZ

Zone 2 Shipping Table
1:10.00,2:12.00,3:24.00,4:25.00,5:28.00,7:29.00,8:30.00

So 0-1 KG = $10
>2 kg is $12.00
>3 kg is $24.00
>4 kg is $25.00
>5 kg is $28.00
>7 kg is $29.00
>8 + = $30.00

My product is set to weight 2 but the shipping price comes out at $28.00

If I then add a new product it all goes to $0.00

Did you check the Tare in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

Make sure you have this set for Weight as well ...

Yippie I new that was one thing that may have been out. thanks I have put to 1000 and the $0.00 stopped.

Now about this tare... is 0.3 a standard or should it be greater if the box is say twice the volume?

Weigh the box ...

Add bubble wrap or peanuts etc. ...

Weigh the box ...

Add paper work ...

Weigh the box ...

What's it weigh?

Take the biggest small to medium package ...

repeat

What's it weigh?

Take you normal ... most things fit in this box ... small to medium box ...

repeat

What's it weigh?

The idea is ... do you need to add a little weight or extra charge based on product weight calculated based on percentage and/or weight of the box?

Or, if you have all that built into your shipping weight ... set to 0:0

- we dont know how to set the last weight so that it charges a rediculous amount...in the hope it will prevent large sales.

We did have it set at 999:500.00 - but it seems to find a middle point or sliding scale so that 107kg of products selected, only $180 would be the shipping cost. We thought that anything above 42kg would reg as $500.00 shipping cost. Is this not how it works?

We set our Tare to 0:0
and set 42kg for max per box weight

Your Maximum Box weight is 42

107/42 = 2.54 = 3
3 * 60 (42lbs rate) = 180

After a few more ideas on our final weights for certain products we came up with this for the first set:

NZ = (kgs) >1kg:$10.00,>3.9:$15.00 etc

1:10.00,3.9:15.00,9:15.00,14.9:25.00,19.9:25.00,35:25.00,42:30.00,80:60.00

May I ask how you would configure ship/pack below? Math not my strong point. Also we have made it that you can only select 2 of any item, thus stopping a huge order 999:1000 thing which was not working for some reason only brainy ones know. (here's looking at you kid)
