necessary to even add attributes?

If I have a store that sells CDs (nothing downloadable) is it necessary to add attributes at all? I'm thinking that I can just add the products and that is it. Am I missing anything in my thinking?

Unless the CD's come in a choice of colors or sizes or some other optional choice has to be made there is no reason to use attributes. They are not mandatory.
