Pop up image size.. image right size, window too small

I am trying to get the size of the browser popup window to be larger than the image when it pops up. I think I know what the problem is, I just don't know how to fix it.

Right now, it's defaulting to the small image size, since that's all I use, according to the browser's thinking.

I have all my images one size. Then in zen-cart, I specified that the images for different views would calculate size to the smaller sizes, of 100px wide, and however tall the image is.

So the popup windows, I think, are defaulting to the size of 100px wide, rather than the actual size of the image?

I don't know how to fix this, and I am not going to go in to 1034 different products and create different size images for each one... lol

It seems like there should be a way to have the window check the ACTUAL image size, rather than having the image defined as "large" "medium" or "small" ?

If you only have one image per product, the system assumes that is your "small" image.
It may have been actually changed to the small size when you loaded it. Have you verified the pixel dimensions of the actual files in your /images/ folder?

Also, using large image files for thumbnails is a very bad idea. It will cause your pages to load more slowly (sometimes much more slowly) and may drive customers away if they don't want to wait.

Is there a way to tell it that the large image equals the same file?

Basically this site is a re-do of the customer's old site, and these are the image files that were already in place for over 1000 products, and each image is filed by category, rather than by size, as there is only one size of them. Unless there is a way to automate the conversion of each image to large, medium, and small sizes, and then update the product info to reflect that, then I don't know how I would be able to do that in the timeframe they want it done in.

The images pull up the correct size in the popup window, just the window itself is only 100px wide, so it only shows a corner of the image unless you manually resize the window.

I get problems with the pop up image .

Here an example:

You can see the image and if you copy the image link by clicking with the right botton of the mouse(if you use Windows) it is what I want ... but when you click on the image , it will open the pop up image but with image resized .

Can anyone help me ?
I would like the standard function that just open the original image without resizing it.

PS I use external images.

Anyone ever come up with a solution? I have many smaller sites I build and there may only be 5-6 products on a page so I'll put them all up at 300 and let them be scaled to 200 for the product page and 100 for the listing page. Call me lazy. Large sites I do the 3 images. I use photoshop tp size so its easy but for small sites it isn't worth the time or effort as my main image is 300px.

Right now they have to stretch out the window to see the larger pic.. Not losing any sleep over it, but it is annoying.

...and you know hat, I just went to one of my larger sites where I have pics in 3 sizes and the larger image opens at 112px

Curiously enough, standard Zen Cart behavior is for popups to start as small size, then adjust to the actual image dimensions after loading is complete. Not sure why some people are having this problem.

IE will open the pop-up full size once the image is loaded. Its FF that makes you drag the popup open.

I ran in to this exact problem with Firefox when I built my first site. I was able to solve it, but I'll be damned if I can remember how. In any event, it became a non-issue when I installed Zen Lightbox.
