Define Pages Editor,
I get,
Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/stictcom/public_html/includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php
OK,
using ftp software navigate to this folder
includes/languages/english/html_includes/
right click on it,
choose properties,
set to 777 and hit go,
should get a popup that says this file or all files and folders,
choose all files and folders
when your done editing, then set all back to 755
Zen cart PCI compliant Hosting
have gone to ftp right clicked on the right side of the screen but there is no Properties" command but there is file attributes when clicked it shows the 9 check boxs
changed them to 777 no popup window
if I go to the left screen and right click there is a Properties" command
when clicked on that there is no 9 boxs just 2 check boxs
1st check box, read only it has a check in it, and 2'nd check box, hidden. no check in the box.
when I uncheck read only and hit apply I get a popup.
1, is apply changes to this folder only
2, apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files
checked the # 2 uploaded the file and still getting the error
the left frame is your PC, dont touch that one
the right frame is the server,
you want to then go in and change the includes/languages/english/define_html/classic folder and all the files in it to 777
Zen cart PCI compliant Hosting
did that still the same
Solution
Set permission to 777 for the 'html_includes' directory and the 'classic' directory and all 'php' files in the classic directory.
When finished making changes, set the 'html_includes' and 'classic' directory to 755.
I would like to chime in that using Cpanel > File Mgr. should not be a problem. I use it all the time and how fast it works is dependent upon the Server. I agree that using it for file edits may not be the best method, but for quick changes it should be fine.
hey rob,
as for speed
using ftp you can edit ALL the files and folders in a set at one time where in cpanel you have to edit each one individually, thats the reason I suggested actually using ftp.
but your right editing files, cpanel adds white space and crap
Zen cart PCI compliant Hosting
changed everything in ftp and cpanel still the same error
I am going to reinstall start over maybe I missed something

Merlinpa1969, understood. What you were referring to as 'speed' I was thinking of as 'convenient'. Sometimes not the same thing. Majority of the time it is faster & more convenient to use an FTP program, but there are some instances when File Mgr. is better. Not many, but some.
sameeee, something is not right. If you used the settings mentioned in my previous post you should not be having a problem. Let's clarify, are you using the Classic Template for your site?
