Few Zen Cart Questions

with regard to payment, how does it all work? Is there a way to get Zen Cart to send payment to your bank once the credit card has been verified? Or does it send the credit card details to the merchant via email?

Do you have to use paypal?

There are several methods available - If you have Zen Cart installed look in admin > modules > payment > and there are a couple of what is termed "gateways" that perform the processing for a fee and you must also have a merchant account with your bank. In the downloads section at the top nav of this site in the payment listing there are more gateways.

All require that you have a merchant account and have different fee structures. This is the method used for most all online purchasing.

Im redesigning an already online shop so I assume my client already has a merchant account with his bank? what details do I need from him?

This depends somewhat on who is has as a gateway and the , but an account #, user & pass or what ever they might call it ....and you should be able to get this from the current site as these details vary little as they are predicated by the gateway and not the cart.
