Default Correct way to protect dirs and files?

    HI all,
I'm having several people look at my site because of a issue with the text below the logo, they keep telling me that my directories and file aren't protected.
Can someone please tell me how to do this?
I thought that you had to change permissions, but they are set to what the instructions per this site say to set them to.
Can someone lead me to a step by step for doing this?

    Thanks ~

Didn't think it was needed to ask for a instruction page...

I know other online people from my eBaying t hat have worked with sites like these and that have checked the site for me because of the text issue that I'm having at the top. They tell me that I need to "Protect your Directories".
Its come from more then one person....so I'm concerned.

I was concerned again when asked for the URL because to me, that's like me telling you guys that I left my car unlocked with the keys in it and then someone asks me for the address to tell me how to go and lock it. Does that make sense? I went ahead and posted it cause I know the poster is a regular, but now I'm worried because I'm being told its not protected and I know that other, non-regular trustworthy people can see my post .... LOL .... paranoid much?

I'm just trying to to the right thing here guys, trying to create a working basic store so that I can get back to business.
Thanks for any helpful suggestions ~

the settings that came stock from ZC are correct and are secure,
the things you can batten down are
make the DB cache, and set the permissions on downoad, pub cache to 644
you can make the image files 777 ( as long as your done uploading images through the admin )
you can change the includes/languages/english/html_defines/ to 755 as long as your done making changes using html area.

otherwise all the files are secure,
there is a neat readme in the docs section of your ZC distro about security,

follow those simple guidelines and you are good to go,

    What color is your car?

I would be more concerned about all the people you know that have the UN and PW to your site. Did they write it down on a pad of paper sitting on their desk? Is it in an e-mail on the family computer that all the neighborhood kids use to surf myspace?

well, not sure what you meant, but no one has the password to this site. I'm doing it by myself.
