Default Upgrade from 1.2.4 to 1.3.7

I have my new site working ver 1.3.7, all products and data transfered from old version 1.2.4, but i need to now move the customers and address, but the tables are different.

Can i just upgrade the sql files from 1.2.4 to 1.3.7 using zc_installer? without damaging the 1.2.4 working site?

I do have a complete up to date backup if it goes wrong, but wanted info before I start

The 1.2.4 site is the live one at present, but a soon as the customers are transfered acrross the 1.3.7 will be live
    thanks

or is there another way via phpmyadmin to alter the tables for a export to the new version

    thanks

    Andy

If you have a 1.3.7 site with a separate DB then in phpmy admin select this DB and drop all the tables.

Import the 1.2.4 DB backup into this DB and run the zc_install - upgrade DB only.

This should get all your tables updated correctly. Now that you know how to do this you will do this again just before taking 1.3.7 live by taking the 1.2.4 site down for maint performing a DB back - applying to the new store & run zcinstall again this captures the most up todate information. Bring up the new site as the live site.

just a thought, and i will give your way a go, but, can i just add the two new lines in the customer table myself and them export the customers, would that still work?

It has been too long since I have seen a 1.2.4 DB so I can' provide an opinion buy know that the recommended method works. And if a live store you need more than this to bring all new customers, new orders, inventory etc up todate

Have you cleared out the Admin Activity Log (Admin > Tools > Store Manager > reset button at top)? This can get really big and the data is for information only.

Wow looks like I'm not the only lazy person in here.

This is exactly what I'm about to do.

Will post my results tomorrow if I can.

In the meantime though, will this update still be as simple considering I have added a fair handfull of mods?

    Thanks in advance:)

If you've added a fair number of mods designed for version 1.2.x then I'm afraid that the upgrade is very unlikely to be straightforward. The impacts of each mod on the core code will need to be checked. Often you will need to install a later version instead.
