Default Re: Upgrade from 1.2.4 to 1.3.7

    Thanks Kuroi

I should have stated my intended method I guess: I am intending to import the 1.2.4 db into a scratch 1.3.7 build as the mods are mostly obsolete now anyway. So I guess what I am asking, is: if I import the modified 1.2.4 db into a new 1.3.7 shop will it simply take the entries it needs? Or will the modded queries corrupt it? If so, can you suggest anything to help?

What i did was, upload a fresh copy of the 1.3.7 files, then add the 1.2.* sql file via phpMy admin, import your backup database, then run the upgrade DB in the zc_install for 1.3.7

this added the correct tables and altered the existing where needed.

    very painless

That's pretty much what I did when I upgraded from 1.2.7 to 1.3.7. I set up 1.3.7 in a testbed with a new db and imported the live db into it. I fiddled with the look of the site and when I was done I uploaded 1.3.7 (with my template changes) to the live site. All I had to do was change the config files to make sure they pointed to the live site instead of the test bed. Then I ran zc_install to upgrade the live DB. Worked like a charm.

    Sweeet

    Couldn't have been easier.

As above; I installed 1.3.7 completely. Then imported the backed-up db and upgraded.

    Easy as 1-2-3

    Thanks! :)

Generally this approach will work fine and is my preference when I upgrade clients. You may find a few left over configuration switches, but generally these simply won't do anything. Similarly, you may have some additional tables and entries in core tables that are simply ignored, but this won't normally cause any problems.
