Featured Products Not Showing

I have this turned on:

Show Featured Products on Main Page

But it does not show

Check to see the value of the "Maximum Display of Featured Products - Main Page" setting under Admin>Maximum Values.

This must be set to a value gt than 0

Have you created any featured products??

admin > catalog > featured products > new product > enter some

The featured items ar in a sidebox...I do not have this template installed to check but try a couple of things

1. switch to the classic template and see of featured shows up in the center

2. if it does not re-check settings

3. in the admin > tools > layout boxes controller > turn off the featuredsidebox and seeif this might be overriding the center display

I don't have a "classic" temple but I do have a "classic contemporary green" that I have never used.

1. I switch to the above template. The featured items do not show up in the center.

2. I rechecked settings.

Maximum Display of Specials Products - Main Page = 9
Show Featured Products on Main Page = 1
I do have 3 featured products that are enabled
Of course still no featured items in center

3. Now I set sideboxes/featured.php to off for the left/right & single column status. Still no featured items show in the center.

4. I tried a few other templates with the same effect.

5. I went back to my template with correct settings and no luck.

Did you check the settings on the Index Listing and endure that the Featured Centerboxes have a value other than 0 ...

0 = OFF and any other value is the Sort Order of the Centerboxes within each group of Centerboxes ...

I went back to index listing to check thru the settings.

I assumed all that was required to be turned on was:

Show Featured Products on Main Page

Seems I could turn that off and turn on:

Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories

...And now it works.

There is so many options everywhere it can be confusing.
