I'm trying to get Google Analytics working on my site:

"Copy the following code block into every webpage that you want to track. Click in the box below to select the entire code. Copy and paste the code
segment into the bottom of your content, immediately before the </body> tag
of each page that you are planning to track. If you use a common include or template, you can enter it there.

Could somebody tell me the best spot to place the code?

please note that this line
<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js"

will cause your SSL pages to appear un secure and will ( depending on the browser ) throw the security error popup box,

firefox just blocks out the padlock.

After removing the google code from tpl_main_page.php I found when going to the checkout in explorer I was still getting the security popup that was asking me if I wanted to display unsecure items Y/N. On clicking No I noticed that a side box graphic I had for a link to Tazbar.com was not displayed. However I've since disabled the sidebox graphic in banner manager and the security popup does not appear anymore when going to the checkout. Is this happening because the graphic is stored in a folder I have called custom_graphics in my public folder?

this is because you are using <img src="http:// IMAGE HERE >

try making it totally relative,

Yes I see where I was going wrong, I thought the graphic was stored locally, but instead it was stored on another server.
