Default Re: Storefront POS integration with Zencart

Anyone find a solution for the point of sale (card swipe) for Zen Cart?

It would be great to use Zen Cart to track inventory, and be able to swipe cards for customers that walk in to make purchases.

I looked at the Magnetic One, but it was for CRE? *edit* Nevermind, looks like they do have one for Zen Cart http://www.magneticone.com/store/Zen....Point.of.Sale Anyone use it?

    Thanks!

Our company is currently testing the MagneticOne POS system out. It looks promising however there are still a handful of improvements that need to be made before we can use it. The support folks there have been pretty responsive and as soon as they get everything lined out we'll start using it. We evaluated eCC and T-Hub. Both were too expensive for what you get and require annual support agreements and various other up-charges that seem a bit over the top especially for the Zen Cart world.

For a home based 'store' (like ours) you can take phone orders and process payments by installing 2 simple mods:

    1. Add Customer from Admin

    2. Admin login as customer (with master password)

This allows you to add a (phone) customer to your DB then login as that customer and place an order for the customer whilst you are talking to them on the phone.

This idea could be refined by some savvy programmers to make it look pretty for use in a B&M shop at checkout / POS

Add to that the admin mod Admin Profiles which restricts employees to access only certain areas of your admin.

Not very pretty I must admit - but it does the trick for me for phone orders.

    Hey Frank18,
Thanks for that post with the modules suggestions. That may very well come in handy.

My client is considering Retail Edge http://www.retailedge.com/ for her bricks&mortar store POS. Anyone out there have experience integrating this with Zen Cart? One of their clients uses OSCommerce and another uses cs-cart....

RE forum discussions on the topic:

Any input and feedback would be welcome, especially if it saves us coding time. Thanks!

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've found a POS solution for Zen-Cart: Pro Elite Software dot com. This is a beta test 15-day trial. This solution automatically imports customers, products, product attributes and even uses the barcode add-on. If you don't have the product add-on then you can manually map a barcode to a product with ease.
