    help question How to set up local delivery charges

    Does anyone know of a good way to add on a delivery charge? We're trying to add different charges for 10 different towns. Maybe a shipping module we could modify?

    I have precisely the same problem. Zen Cart works on countries not a country and regions in a country can anybody help me with setting up shipping rates on a region in a country. Like i stay in gauteng so shipping inside my region is R20.00 but if someone stays in say in the western cape the shipping there is R200.00 something like that. So its not per weight or item but per region . Not mattering how heavy the items are. Just a flat rate per region ? Any ideas on how to do that ??

    Sorry as a Newbie, I maybe taling rubbish..

    But..

    "Towns" Do these places that have Towns have "Counties" or "States"?

    Could you create a "State" of the "Town"... eg, State = "San Jose"
    OR.....
    Could you create a "State" of the "Town - State"... eg, State = "San Jose - California".

    Then you should be able to create prices for those zones? using a Zones Shipping Format?

    Oh Blimey, I had this problem initially, but managed to solve it by using multiple instances of a particular add-on shipping module. I remember I had to edit part of the module so that it had a different title.

    Ohhh what was it?

    I also remember that I categorized my delivery areas so that each copy of the module covered a lot of different areas within the town:

    Delivery shipping module for Zen Cart Beta Release v1.1.2d

    Merchants usually deliver their customers' orders when they live close to the
    store; so, this module allows you to add this kind of shipping method to your
    Zen Cart installation.

    Installation is trivial, you only need to copy & paste the 'includes'
    directory to the root path of your Zen Cart installation (easy, files from
    the original installation won't be modified). Next, you must go to Modules /
    Shipping / Store Delivery Service and press Install buttom.

    This module does not require any other special setup.

    You'll need 10 copies, probably - unless some of them are charged at the same rate as others.

    Say one pair of files (one in includes/languages, one in includes/modules) for Leicester & Manchester &#163;5 etc..... One pair for London &#163;2 & one pair for Plymouth, Bristol & Exeter - &#163;3

    Trust it's not too complicated. The purchaser will need to select the town personally, it cannot pick up the payment from the customers address details.

    Thanx for the quick reply guys will go try it tonight after work and see if i can get it figured out.

    The way we want it ill only need about 2 of them
    one for Guateng <- wich is like a state and one for the rest of our states wich will have a flat rate

    So ill give it a bash and let you all know

    Seems that the files dont work. Are you sure there isnt another file that needs to be there ??

    the file here includes/modules/shipping needs to differ from the one in languages. folder
