Default Zencart allows payment, Authorize.net does not.

My store sells market research reports in PDF format.

Some customers (both international - outside of US) have been able to complete the transaction in ZenCart, but Authorize.net declines it.

The most recent case involved a purchase from Europe. The cart accepted the order and delivered the PDF, but Authorize.net shows the transaction was declined twice.

According to authorize.net, this transaction didn’t go through because of the settings in the AVS (address verification system). The default is rather stringent and doesn’t allow for address mismatches and with international transactions. However, it actually showed a decline in this case, which didn’t happen with the australian buyer.

What are some things I should check?

This store doesn't have a high volume and other orders are working just fine.

do you have your authnet module set to Enable Database Storage?
If so, what was the result data stored in the authorizenet_aim table for this transaction?
    - result code
    - result text
    - sent
    - received

I do now, but didn't at the time of the order. On that note - do I need to create a new table in the MySQL database? The admin indicates that a table is required, but it doesn't say where to put it or what to call it.

The table is auto-created during Zen Cart setup.

    Understood.

Hopefully I can prevent this from happening entirely.

In any situation, why would zencart allow a transaction if it was declined by the gateway?

    It doesn't.

If it receives a response other than '1-Approved' from authorize.net, it rejects the transaction and asks the customer to try again.

I just had an order go through, even though the authorizenet table reports 'declined'

Specifically "This transaction has been declined."

    Any ideas?

Did you turn on the logging requested earlier in the thread? Have you spoken to AuthNet about what is being declined and why?
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Yes - the 'declined' message is logged to the authorizenet table.

    EUREKA!

Solved. The solution was easy, and Zencart was a champ. However, credit cards are confusing to configure in Zencart for this reason:

    * I had credit cards set to 'ON'
    * I had 'Authorize.NET' set to 'ON'

My reasoning was, "Sure! I want to accept credit card! Sure, I want to use Authorize.net!"

The reality is that only Authorize.net (AIM) needs to be on. Credit Cards need to be 'OFF.'

I had customers seeing two credit card forms. One went to Authorize.net, one was just a raw, un-authorized credit card transaction.

Now my settings are correct and all is well.

Thank you zencart forum members for giving me the clues.

Hopefully others with this problem can benefit from my mistake.
