Admin page does not load

Hey I've just installed the cart yesterday. It's all working beautifully except I don't get the logon page at all for the admin area.

I get the cart, and when I go to the admin area the login.php page is found by the browser, but nothing loads up. I've also tried the admin.php file by typing it into the browser - nothing. Typical page cannot be displayed messages in both firefox and ie.

I have tried loading the htaccess file to an _bak file an that didn't make any difference. The configure.php files in both the includes and admin/includes folder are ok and set to 444.

I'm reluctant to re-ftp these files as has been suggested in other posts because it will override all of the settings created yesterday when setting up the shop ie file attributes and config info.

Hosted with go daddy on linux server.

Check that you have the correct admin/index.php and that you haven't inadvertently uploaded the one that belongs in the store root

Hey thanks for that. I checked and it has index.php in that folder. I uploaded them as folders so it shouldn't have changed. Just to be sure I replaced index.php and login.php with the original ones from zipped fileset. No joy!

Should I start again?

I'm wondering about php files - will they run OK on a linux server?

If php files didn't run on Linux servers, the web would be a very different place!

Check that there are no errors in your config files (both of them).

From now - without access - it's a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack, so if you want to PM me with FTP access details, I'll take a look (as soon as I can) just to see if there's anything obvious.

Hi again, no luck again. I even re-installed zencart aaaarhh. It loads with the shop front but can't get to the admin area.
