As long as you have php and mysql databases, you should be ok. What version of php are they running? Did they say?

They did not say what version. So if I upload zen files as instructed in the instruction manual then I do not need apache/php/mysql on my machine? It will run perfectly off my hosting server? But if I want to build my entire site before uploading then I need to download apache/php/mysql?

You can add any currency you need.

For local development I use XAMPP. Nice one click install

You can set your store's default currency to whatever you need. You can also add a cron job (see the download section) to get the latest exchange rates.

From what your hosting service said, you have mySQL available to you, so there should be no problem creating a database and installing ZC.

As far as running it locally... what Brent said!
