Simple Shipping Help!!

Hi

I have downloaded v1.3.7 and trying to set up what I thought would be a very simple shipping method but I just cannot get it to work!

All I want to do is have Per Item Shipping - 1 rate per item for the UK, 1 rate per item for the EEC and 1 rate for everywhere else.

Does anyone know how to set up this simple shipping method?

PS I have set up EEC as a zone definition and put the 26 countries (all except the UK) in it.

You have to use the ZONES module to set up rates for different countries.

Zen Cart identifies countries by their ISO Codes (ISO=International Standards Organisation). These are codes that are universally applied.

So, while the English call it SPAIN, the Spanish call it ESPAGNE.

The ISO code for SPAIN is "ES", so if the Chinese, Russians, Portuguese and Serbo-Croatians are referring to Spain and want to ensure they're all talking about the same place, all they need do is call it by its ISO code and then we're all sure!

Now, when customers register with your zenshop, they select their country from a dropdown list. Zencart says: "AH, a fellow from GERMANY !!! He needs to get 'DE' recorded on his details in the database."

You in the meantime, have set up ZONES shipping and configured it by inserting these ISO codes in the manner appropriate to your shipping policy.

If you have included Germany and Spain in your target market, you'll have a zone where these two ISO codes appear (DE,ES) and you will then configure the shipping rate that is applicable to that zone.

When your German customer logs in to your shop, Zencart says: "Ah... Mr Weiss from Bonn is here... as he's in DE, this shipping rate must apply..."

Best advice is to get the new book... it's all in there, plus a lot more.

Enable the zone module in the admin and select "Per Item" and define your 3 zones

Okay... just read your post again...

...are you trying to COMBINE the concepts of PER ITEM SHIPPING and ZONE SHIPPING?

In Zencart these are separate ideas (and modules).

So if Mr Weiss from Bonn buys 6 items, his shipping will be 6 X Item Rate, AS APPLIED to 'DE'.

And if Mr Ferreira from Lisbon buys 5 items, his shipping will be 5 X Item Rate, AS APPLIED TO 'PT'

... Hmmmmm, this is a good one..... don't know the answer !!

The problem with Zone per item is that you are specifically coding the cost based on number of items ...

Unlike Per Item where you set a rate and that calculates it for you ...

You could clone the Per Item item for each Zone that you need and set the individual rates and I believe you could better acheive the Shipping Rates that you are looking for ...

So in Zone Shipping I type GB for the United Kingdom for item rate 1, the 26 letter codes for the EEC item rate and another set of a 100 or so codes for the other countries? Isn't there a default for ALL countries except the ones entered?

What do you type in the price box in Zone Shipping to get per item price - if I type just 0.5 it doesn't work, if I enter 1:0.5 it oinly works for the first item, if I type say 100:0.5 it gives 0.5p total shipping for 1 to 100 items ie 1 item is charged at 0.5 and 100 items are also charged at 0.5 (total). Do I also have to type in the same rate for an unlimited number 1:0.5,2:0.5,3:0.5,4:0.5, ...... items?
