    Default "Contact Us" issue

    Hello,

    I've just started testing the "Contact Us" setting and, surprise, I can't seem to receive any mail.

    I've made sure the email address is in the <> and when i send a test message it says that the mesage has been sucessfully sent, but never reaches my inbox.

    Would this mean that my email host is trashing it on it's arrival?

    My email address has been used (unauthorized, of course) on a spamming run for the last 2 months. Would this have an effect on the Contact Us messaging??

    I haven't even started looking at other email options yet - seem to be stuck at the first hurdle.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    p.s I've tried a variety of different settings from smtp, smtpauth and php. Nothing

    Try this...

    set up a new hotmail e-mail address and see if you get the messages when you configure your zenstore email settings to point to the new hotmail address...

    I just changed the Contact Us line to point at a new hotmail address (One i made earlier today coincidentally) and i have not received the test message in either the inbox or junk mail folder...

    Check with your host to see what their mail server setup is, then configure ZC to operate using those settings

    My hosts are profoundly unhelpful generally speaking and do their utmost to terminate converstions prematurely.

    If you don't mind, what should i ask them in particular? If i have a list, i'll be able to go through it with them and find out what's going on.

    I really appreciate your time & help.

    If they are being so difficult, you should ask them to cancel your agreement and help you move your hosting elsewhere!

    However, if you're stuck with them, they should have given you a long list of all the settings on the server - including their mail server set up.

    Seriously... don't stay with a host that will not help. If you have more serious issues later, your hoped-for livelihood thru your webshop may be at risk.

    So,

    I changed the "contact us" email to the hotmail address but omitted the name and managed to recieve 3 contact us messages when using, php, sendmail and sendmail f. They all found their way to the junkmail folder but at least they showed up. I got errors with the 2 x smtp methods and a no-show with qmail.

    I suppose that proves that my email host is trashing all the mails.....

    If you have only ONE email address to send to:-

    [email protected]

    Then you don't put a name:- Me <[email protected]> is incorrect. Or at least I find it to cause e-mail errors too.

    I only use the name + <address> when I have multiple names and email addresses.
