    Default Zen Cart Performance?

    Hello,

I run an e-commerce website and am looking to change my shopping cart program. I'm thinking about going with Zen Cart as it looks like it has a huge user base. What I'm most considered about, however, is performance, as I have never used PHP except in small applications, and haven't really seen how it scales under heavy load. My current site gets 10,000+ unique visitors/day, 100,000+ pageviews/day (going through the cart), 30,000+ products, and with the current shopping cart software it has immediate response when a user clicks on a link. Could I get some feedback as to how Zen Cart will perform for a site of this size? My dedicated server is a 2.40Ghz Intel Xeon with 2GB RAM. Thanks for any advice.

Have you an URL to your existing site so we can see how things are laid out to get a better idea of what it is that you have now or anticipate having later?

Sorry, I don't think that my company would approve of me publishing their URL after I just listed a bunch of their metrics . I'm sure you know how that works. Suffice it to say that the site is fairly "normal", it has many categories (with sub-categories), maybe 1-300 products per category, pretty much a standard layout.

If you set up the server to allocate more memory to mysql then you will be fine with that box
