Newbie Help - Birthday Question on Checkout

Hi everyone, have tried looking thru the archieves and am trying to figure out how to adjust the "birth date" requirement on the creating account page. I would like to eliminate the year part - is there a simple way to do this? I would like to keep the birthday info - month/day but don't really see the need for the year.

I am using the latest version of Zen Cart.

Hi, I also would like to make the same change. I want get their date of birth during account registration but I do not want to require them to tell the year they were born. Thanks!

There are verifications on the customers_dob all over and would take longer to try to remove those and accept text than to just make the customers suffer ...

Wow, that is a horrible way to approach a problem. Make the customer suffer because the developers made the account sign-up form too complicated?

If there was one thing I'd love to see in Zen Cart it would be the ability to select what I want customers to fill out. The way I see it there is way too much for most cases.

You do have the ability to turn the birthdate on or off, but not the pieces of the date.

You are trying to convert a date to text ...

Zen Cart treats the date of birth as a date and it therefor has validations for this everywhere that it is used ...

The most you can do is either:

1 turn it off

2 change to not required

3 turn off our dob and make your own field for the date your way that does not use the validation

4 accept birthdays our way with the year so you can say Happy 100th!!

Thanks for your response, am sorry that I am not computer knowledgeable enough to know how to add a field to just include the month and day and turn off the other dob. Is there a place that would show me how to do this?

Some of my customers have complained and stated they saw no need to include a birthdate. I am not selling anything date related.

This begs the question, is there any reason that any customer must include their date of birth? I am not asking this in a sarcastic or mean way... I really would like to know if I have missed something.
