MySql 5.0.27 and php 4.4.6 vs error Unknown column p.products_id in on clause

I might need to upgrade my cart from 1.2.5. My cart stopped working this week and it appears my server has upgraded MYSQL to 5.0.27 and php 4.4.6. I'm getting this message when I click on items in my store:
1054 Unknown column 'p.products_id' in 'on clause'

Would upgrading help? Or is there an easier way to handle this?
