It sounds like you have a fault in the way in which your configure file is setup. Are you using secure servers when accessing the admin, or just through a standard http:?

What happens if you try and access www.yourstore.com/admin/configuration.php directly? Do you get the same 404 error, or do oyu get redirected to the login page?

I had the same errors and my configuration.php under admin was incorrectly set to 0777 instead of 0644.
I know late post, but it may help someone else :)

I also have this problem...and have checked the file permissions, they are correct.

I have checked the configure.php file and it is correct (the admin folder was renamed).

All other admin functions work, except for the configuration section.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    OK...here is a little update...

When I look at the URL of the link it says www.mysite.com.au/xxx/configuration.php not www.mysite.com.au/xxx/configure.php

    Where would this be set?

They are two different files - configuration.php is an admin page, which you should be able to access through a browser, and is used to set up values stored in the database.

The CONFIGURE file is in admin/includes/configure.php, and SHOULD NOT be accessible directly through a browser, as it should give you an access error.
