    Default Shipping Question

    Hi All,

Newbie just setting up Zen Cart, nearly there but not quite!

I have set up Price based shipping:

    £0.00 to £14.99 - Shipping = £2.99
    £15.00 to £54.99 - Shipping = £4.99
    £55.00 and above - Shipping = Free
(UK Shipping only at the moment)

I have one Category of products that are heavier that all the rest. Ideally I would like to either:
    (a) add a weight based shipping fee for just this category
    (b) add a fee per item ordered for just this category but one that would show separately to the base price.

My php knowledge as a newbie is 'zero' so, if there is a way of doing this through Zen Cart, rather than 'customising', I would be grateful if anyone can help?

    PS.

There is a Zen Cart site that I have found that has two shipping rates:

Category 'Food' is either 'Free' or £7.99 Special Delivery
Category 'Non-Food' is weight based in four groups - up to 1kg, up to 2kg, up to 28kg and above 28kg

This is similar to what I would like to do!

    Many Thanks

    Breitling

What shipping method are you using now that would be perfect if it were not for this odd category of products?

If the order contains products from this odd category of products ... how much more or what is the formula to determin the "extra" charge to add to the shipping?

When 1 odd product is added?

When 3 odd products are added?

When qty 3 of 1 odd product is added?

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply; my current method is to charge the following:

    Total Order value = £0.00 to £14.99 - Shipping = £2.99
    Total Order value = £15.00 to £54.99 - Shipping = £4.99
Total Order value = £55.00 and above - Shipping = Free
(UK Shipping only at the moment)

For the one category 'Food', I would like to add to the above total shipping charges and amount based on the total weight of the food items in the order.

i.e. If a customer order 5 items with a total value of £50.00 - the shipping would be £4.99. If two of those five items were from the 'Food' category I would like to add an amount to this total based on the weight of the two 'Food' items.

Hope this makes sense and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
