Showing subcategories on the index page

i want subcategory expanded by default, in zencart without onclik event,
Please help me

I am trying to do the same thing. I cannot find any setting in admin which allows me to always display certain subcategories. Why wouldn't this be a common thing done from admin, without digging through who-knows-how-many files to try to find where to change it?

Always displaying certain individual subcategories will have to be custom coded.

To always display certain levels of subcategories, and/or subcats that meet certain criteria regarding the active path, can be done with Categories Dressing from Free Addons.
