Display category in search results

If I search for an item, I would like to be able to display either a category image or the name of the category next to each item in the search results. Is this possible? (It's a record store, I'd like to display 7", 12", LP etc. next to each product, 7", 12" and LP being categories).

Do you use Linked Products?

If not, you could have it display the Category for the master_categories_id ...

If you do use Linked Products, this can be a little more difficult to pick the right Category of the moment ...

I too am interested in this. I have multiple items which have similar names. Take video games for example:

Legend of Zelda on Nintendo 8-bit
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on Gameboy
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on Super Nintendo
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Nintendo Wii

If a person does a search for "Zelda", then all instances of zelda come up, but no mention of the categories they belong in.

I just want to modify the layout for search results to include:

Model Image Title/Description Category Price AddtoCart

As for linking, having only the master category would be fine for search results. Or, have a listing for each category... so if one item were listed in two different categories, it would be listed twice, one for each category it appears.

I've been "tweaking" my zen site for months now, trying to get it 'just right' before going live. I just installed the 1.3.7 version and this time used all custom templates (instead of just editing the default stuff). Much easier this time :)
