Free item if... I can't seem to find the solution

Is there a way to set up an option that if you are a registered member and your total amount purchased is over $x.xx then you get a free gift of your choosing under $x.xx retail price?

Example:

Joe Schmoe registers and becomes a member. He makes a sub-total purchase of $50.00. A link on the page becomes active to allow him access to free items (he is only able to select 1 item). If he goes back to the cart after selecting his free item and removes an item which lowers the sub-total below the minimum amount, then free item is removed and the link becomes inactive.

I would also like the free items to be available for purchase through the site no matter the total.

Sorry, but that is not a stock feature at this time.

Well, you can call it a surprise that is included at the time of shipping. that way it doesn't need to be on the invoice.

Just don't forget to put it in the box.

If you're using a distributer to ship the product, then make sure you order it with the product, and ask them to include your shipping invoice instead of theirs.
