larger image popup to same small image

There is an admin setting to use proportional images, which would solve that issue. Configuration > Images > Image - Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories

I was having the exact problem described by starksark (#20).

I had successfully altered the size of the popup window, but then the image displayed was tiny and distorted.

The solution suggested by gjh42 (#21) solved the problem!

BTW, this was NOT a problem (for me) prior to the 1.3.9 upgrade, though perhaps I had previously edited the "Configuration > Images > Images - Use proportional images" setting and it didn't carry over in the upgrade.

I am also not able to make the whole additional Images thing work. I printed up and have worked throught the tutorial written by Linda McGrath.

My products are in images/product
I have a images/medium/product and images/large/product
I have a product called 123456.jpg in the images/product folder
I have 123456_01_LRG.jpg and 123456_02_LRG.jpg in the images/large/product folder.

I have checked configuration and my ext is set to _LRG.

In the tutorial Linda says you can have a_bugs_life_01.gif, a_bugs_life_02.gif, a_bugs_life_03.gif with the corresponding images in the mediu, and large folder. I am assuming that these all go to one product. What I am not understanding, or even seeing, is what these extra images do. I know what I would like them to do, click them and see all the images associated with the product, but it does not seem to work that way.

Can anyone clear up what this will do for me or post a product where I can see it work properly?

The image:
/images/products/123456.jpg

uses the large image:
/images/large/products/123456_LRG.jpg

If you have additional images:
/images/products/123456_01.jpg
/images/products/123456_02.jpg
/images/products/123456_03.jpg

they use the large images:
/images/large/products/123456_01_LRG.jpg
/images/large/products/123456_02_LRG.jpg
/images/large/products/123456_03_LRG.jpg

Thanks Linda for helping. I did understand the concept that you outlined above and have done it but I still do not see any additional images. Where will they show up.

The actual product only has one image associated with it
/images/product/123456.jpg. I have added another picture

/images/product/123456_01.jpg and
/images/large/product/123456_01_LRG.jpg

but I do not see that anywhere on the product page for the item 123456. Where does it show up?

Is there an example page somewhere?

okokokokok I found it and it worked. The extra image was way at the bottom of the product page!! Guess I need to move that but it worked. Probably worked all along I just did not know where to look!!
