Default Installation just cycles through first three steps

After using Zen Cart 1.3.5 on a Windows machine, I tried to install the current version (1.3.7) on a Linux machine, but the installation just cyles through the frist three steps (license agreement, check of PHP and Server settings, base URLs & directories). After clicking on the "install" button at step 3, I always get back to step 1 without any error message whatsoever. At step 2 there is no error message either. There is only a "php runing in cgi mode" warning.

The next steps would be configuring a forum and the database.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Out of desperation I even tried to set the permissions of all Zen Cart files and directories to 777, but that did not help either.

I would reload the files for v1.3.7 ... sounds like you could have corrupt or missing files causing this ...

No, that's not the problem. I even copied the entire achive to my server and unzipped it there. but the problem is still the same.

    By now I'm quite frustrated.

So PLEASE, if someone could point me into the right direction for solving this problem, I would be extremely gratefull!

I'd rather edited my last posting, but unfortunately this server does not allow it more than 7 minutes after the fact.

    So here is my addendum:

Edit: I'm starting to think that my problem could be caused by PHP running in cgi mode. Unfortunately there is no way I could change that. The choice of hosting provider is not mine to make.

It could be a mod_security thing blocking it.
There's a zc_install/.htaccess file. If you rename it to htaccess_OFF does it change behaviour at all?

No, that didn't do the trick either. :-(

What is the complete URL to the page just before it sends you back to main page?

Try adding &upgrade=0 to the end of that URL.
