Over a certain weight = "Call for price"

Is it possible to have zen cart show a "Call for price" when the weight of the order is over a certain amount ? What module should I use for that ?

You would need to customize your shop for that ...

Call for Price is designed for Products but not designed to change how the order works ...

You could make it so when weight is too high that there is no shipping and if no shipping there is no checkout ... and add a note saying "Call me!!" ...

I have a related question that just came up today.

How would you implement "Call Me" if you are using the "Table Rate" and your total order is > $1000.00.

As an alternate, is there a way to apply a flat rate for shipping if the order is > $1000.00?

You would need to add some code to block the shipping modules from being selected or make the checkout go to a Call me page instead ...

One method is to change the shipping module to not allow it to be selected or to change the function for testing the module for display to include a block when the order cannot be checked out ...

Or just stick a redirect in all of the checkout_something header_php.php files and send the customer to an information page with an explination to call about the order and checkout ...

Question that comes to mind is ...

I fill up my cart ... I hit the limit so I have to call you ...

This could work fo rme too!

Even the smaller items, if the accumulated weight goes over ?? 250 lbs it is sometimes cheaper to ship via Truck Line instead of UPS or FedEx.

I would like a shipping mod that would include [x] CALL FOR BEST RATE

or Announce that

"This is an Overweight Item - Our customer service department will call you with a rate quote."

Many of our customers are "On Account" local and national government accounts. For every one else, we don't charge their Credit Card until the item ships.

Complete the order and leave it in the "Pending" or "Processing" bin, so that when we call the customer to verify the order and "up-sell" (Yes we call every customer) we can then give them the rate quote.

Does this make sense?

Do you just want a Shipping Module that reads:

Call for Price and shows $0.00 charge ...

And allows the order to be completed online?

This would then "complete" the order so now there is nothing in the shopping cart as the order was completed ... and you have it flagged to call to charge for shipping ...
