SubCategory Rows Change From 3 To 2

hi all i know this is most likely a simple fix but i just cant see it. when you click on a category it opens the index page showing the sub cats and cat images right now it shows 3 rows of sub cats i want it to show only 2 rows. i looked through all the admin configs and didn't see anything i also looked at
tpl_index_categories,tpl_columnar_display and category_row.

does anyone know how i would change this, i figured it was a config setting in admin but nothing i changed worked

never mind i decided against it. it will make the rows to long as i add more cats.
