Simply want to add an image

I go to zen cart admin and add a new product.At the end of inputting data I chose to upload an image by browsing for one on my PC.I upload it to the main directory.But the image doesn't show on preview.
So far I've been adding images by uploading them to the server first via ftp.When I do this the image shows.
But surely if there is an option to just browse and upload from withtin the zen cart admin cp, then I should be able to do that!
My clients will not want to upload every new image by using ftp and uploading to the server that way.

I'm puzzled as to why the upload option isn't uploading my images.

Please advise!

I had this problem a while ago, and I don't remember exactly what the fix was, but the bottom line was I had messed up my template or something and it was trying to call product images from the wrong directory.

When I upload images, I use a product directory under images instead of the main. It's easier and neater. I also have directories for categories, etc.

Good idea about the directories for different categories and images.

Do I have to upload the images to my server via ftp? I can do that but I thought you could just browse to the image on your computer and upload it to zen cart via the zen cp.I mean, there IS! an option for that! or am I going doolally!

I'm past pi$$ed off with this.I'm actually just bored of it now.Thanks for any help.

Seemed to have resolved this by setting the permissions to 777.It was set at 755 before.I didn't think I needed to set the permissions to allow public and groups to write also.I thought that me being the admin and allowing admin to write then it should write.Strange.
