    Default Nav Categories Layout Change

    Hi

I would like to change the layout of my nav categories, my site is here http://www.melianpetsupplies.co.uk/shop/.

Preferably I would like the new nav layout to look like this sites http://www.musicwire.co.uk/index.php, with each category in it's own box.

I know which file to change tpl_categories.php. However, i have tried tweaking the category-top ahref in the stylesheet, but doesn't allow for this kind of change.

Can anyone advise how i might modify the tpl_categories file, maybe add a <p> tag, so each category link is in its own <p> tag? If i can do this i have more scope for changing and making how i want it to look.

    Help appreciated.

Perhaps have a look in the downloads section at one of the Categories Side box enhancements?

Thanks for that, but i have looked in there, is all a bit complex.

As explained, all i want to do is format the links a little, maybe have it, as explained, so links are in own div or p tag.

If you could point me in the right direction that would be great, or even suggest a simple download to achieve my effects that i have overlooked.

    Thanks.

Styling a.category-top as display: block; and giving it background-color: #aabbcc; (or whatever) will give you the boxes.

It will also give you an extra space between each category, so if you do this you also need to edit tpl_categories.php to remove the <br />, per the Strange spaces in categories sidebox thread.
