The next major release will be faster as there will be some database access enhancements added. But if it's painfully slow now that probably means that you are using a shared hosting arrangement that isn't optimised for database applications. I'd recommend moving to one of the Zen Cart certified hosts.

I have no experience of Bluehost, however, their homepage makes them look like a pretty standard budget host. If that's the case, these guys make their money by loading hundreds, sometimes thousands of clients onto each server, which can cause them to run slowly!

If you are having a speed issue - first make sure your site - images etc are optimized, turn on gzip, turn off category counts - if you are still slow ask the host to move you to a less crowded server.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.
Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
They are now. They weren't then. Are you saying that there are problems currently with their service?

What is the URL for the site?

No I was simply asking if they have changed in any way to become 'certified'. The old Bluehost / Hostmonster I am familiar with is, as you said, just like any of the other overloaded shared hosts. But if they've improved, or have made a commitment to be ZC optimized, then thumbs up to them.
I am giving them a shot this week as DH is certainly way too slow. We'll see how it goes.
