    Default Help with categorizing products

    Hello all,

I'm trying to build a website that sells wine. I'm very new using the zencart software so if anyone could direct me to the right tutorial page it would be highly appreciated!

    1) I would like the side bar to be categorized like:
    Varietal (Red, white, sparkling, etc)
    Price ($10-$25, etc)
    Brand

    - How do I go about doing that? I don't want to insert a product more than once to appear in two or three different categories... you know?

Also, in the product description itself is there a way to add boxes to categorize (this is White, Red, Sparking), this is (750ml bottle, 1.5 liters)... etc..???

    Thanks in advance :)

This is a job for Linked Products.

Enter each wine once in an appropriate category (Varietal or Brand - my pick would be brand), and then copy/link it to the other categories where it belongs. There will only be one product to maintain, and any changes will show instantly in all linked categories.

You can organize the categories by giving them a sort order (go by 10, 20, 30 etc. so you can easily insert another without renumbering the existing ones).
Headings like Varietal, Price, and Brand can be added to your display with Categories Dressing.

You can also use the Manufacturers sidebox to sort by brand, if you don't need the brand display in the same list as varietals and price.

Thank you for your quick reply! Your information helped me understand the Linked Products.

What I wanted to know also is:
I would like my sidebox, instead of saying Categories (with the dark green bg), I would like for it to say TYPE or PRICE..

    TYPE:
    Red
    -White

    PRICE:
    - $10-$25
    - $25-$45

    BRAND:
    - Amarone
    - Brunello

Not be a sub-category of the category link...

Hopefully I make sense :) Thank you in advance!

    In your stylesheet, add

    #categoriesHeading {display: none;}

to eliminate the existing box heading, and use one of the features in Categories Dressing to add headings to each section for TYPE, PRICE and BRAND. Style those headings as you wish in your stylesheet.
