Free Shipping on Virtual Products ???

I have lastest version and I have a file that is a free download.. which works fine as I have selected Virtual Product for this and it skips the shipping etc and offers customer the download... BUT if the customer also selects another product that DOES NOT have virutal product selected it still comes out as FREE POST...
On check out it lists the items like..

Free File................ No charge..... no post
Real item............... $28.00 + postage

Check out asks the customer to pay $28.00 and free post for all items ???

It should charge the $28 for the real product + ITS's postage charge...

How do I fix this ???

I am interested in this too. Does any one have any suggestions on how to keep shipping from being charged for virtual products when combined with physical ones?

Downloads are NOT Virtual Products and should NOT be marked as a Virtual Product ...

Download Products "know" they have no shipping based on the filename on the Attribute ...

If you have a Download Product marked as a Virtual Product, that would count as 2 Free Shipping Products, when you really need this to count as 1 ...

If you unmark the Download Products and set it as:

Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required

NOTE: it should also NOT be marked as Always Free Shipping, use:

Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

See if it works better when the Download Products are setup correctly ...

Thank you so much for the reply. What I actually have is a physical product (book) and an attribute option on that product (e-book). Our shipping is 12% of the total cost of the order, but in that total cost is the e-book which obviously does not need to be added to shipping.

After reading your post, I may have set up my attribute wrong. I'll look into it and let you know if I'm still getting the same issue.
