help question Can anyone tell me why I have three different PayPal payment options/buttons

I'm testing PayPal with the PayPal sandbox. So far things seem to be working, but I have two questions:

    1. Is this the Express Check out button below? On my Shopping Cart this button appears...

if there are items in my shopping cart. When I click this button I'm presented with a PayPal page that says:
To access the PayPal Sandbox, please log in to PayPal Developer Central.
I haven't set up testing for Express Checkout if this is what this is.

    2. If I go to Checkout (not pressing the button above), in step 2 I'm presented with two payment options "PayPal IPN" and "Checkout with PayPal".
Now, why is PayPal IPN showing? This is backend notification, why is it showing up as a payment method. (The backend notification worked by the way.)

At any rate I haven't setup testing for express checkout, but the PayPal IPN works when selected as payment method as does Checkout with PayPal.

I just need some clarification on the IPN showing as a payment method and the Express button.

I found my answer to #1 in another post, but can anyone give me some insight into my second question?

If you have both modules installed, then both will be displayed as selectable options for payment.
If you only want one to be displayed, turn off the other one.

I guess I'm not understanding something.
Do I need the IPN payment module in order to receive Instant Payment Notification?

The module is still named "PayPal IPN" because it initially relied on IPN notifications exclusively. Under the hood though, it is essentially Website Payments Standard.

Since adding Express Checkout, the IPN processing infrastructure has been enhanced to support handling of IPNs for Express Checkout transactions also.

However, there is no need to enable the "PayPal IPN" payment module if you don't wish to display it to your customers.
The IPN infrastructure will still process Express Checkout notices and updates etc.
