does zen have a test mod so i can test my payment modual?

No Test Mode, but you can set your site into Website Maintenance. All the various options can be set here - Admin->Configuration->Web Site Maintenance. Your better option would be to create a copy of your web site and database in a sub-directory for testing. You'd need to make some minor tweaks to the 2 configuration.php files. Then test. If done from the same server, you should have a good venue for your tests.
