Using Darkness template-Customizing front page?????

Greetings,

I am using the Darkness theme. I have tried to customize the front page and have
read ALL the faq's about customization. Is it just me or is zen cart immune to customization ? ;) I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance.

that template was designed before the change in ZC was made to allow the homepage to look different than the rest of the pages :)

No Zen Cart is not immune to customization. Click on the Hall of Fame link in my sig to see just how customizable it can be.

Obviously you haven't tried everything, otherwise you would have found what works. If you give us some clues as to what you have tried, and a link to you site we would be in a much better position to spot what you're doing wrong. dlbtoe's will help you to hit the right note too

This is true, but Darkness is a lightweight template that doesn't actually get in the way of most of the later changes made to underlying Zen Cart, so the $this_is_home_page variable would still be available for use, and the extra breadcrumbs switch would work.
