    Default Can't even install!

I'm thinking of switching hosts and wanted to try setting up zen cart before I switch my domain over. I need to stay on a Windows server because of another application that won't run on Linux. I set up a new account and have a URL of:
    http://76.162.33.209/ which is working.

First, I read the instructions (really! I did!)
    I created a directory /catalog
I uploaded all the zen cart files into the /catalog directory using Filezilla
I went to catalog/includes/ and catalog/admin/includes, changed the dist-configure.php file in each directory to configure.php

Since this is a Windows server I can't change the attributes with an FTP program but I went into my website control panel and unchecked the box that said "Read only" for the attributes on both configure.php file

Now I can't get to the next step in the installation. If I use my browser to go to
    http://76.162.33.209/catalog or
http://76.162.33.209/catalog/zc_install like the instructions say, I get an Http 403 error that says I don't have permission to enter the page.

I'm guessing that it's an issue with file permissions but I'm not sure what to do. I can go into my website control panel and change the attributes for individual files but I can't change the attributes or permissions on folders (directories).

I can't afford to lose any more hair! Can anyone help?

    Dave

Your site is either not setup to run index.php by default or you have a bad upload of the files ...

Try to reload the files from a clean Zen Cart v1.3.7.1 ...

I finally got it figured out. I went to:
http://76.162.33.209/catalog/zc_install/index.php and got the setup screen.

My issue with your site was, you should not need to type in the index.php as it should be a default on your server to know to load the index.php when not specified ...

help question Re: Can't even install!

I have a problem that seems similar here. I uploaded zen cart files "zen-cart-v1.3.7.1-full-patched-07052007.zip" under the directory "index_html" which is the specified upload directory of host-99 server, and I did all the permission changes that are mentioned in zen-cart installation instruction page (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=107)

Next step, I tried to install zen-cart following the above instruction link, but the supposed to pop up installer never starts the installation automatically at all. It always shows "http 404 not found" "web page cannot be found". I tried to enter different url in my brower to start the installation but all came to the same mentioned error. URL I tried to enter includes:

    http://www.(mydomain).com/public_html
    http://www.(mydomain).com/public_html/zc_install

Anybody who had similar situation or has any idea what's the problem?

PS: I am using host-99's "Web Business ZenCart Special" which includes free zen cart installation. After I purchased and logged in I could see a "www" directory in the file category, the content of which seems exactly the same as "public_html" with my manually uploaded zen cart files. I am not sure if it's there because of the "free installation" service from host-99, or if my problem has anything to do with that. I even tried to enter the URL
http://www.(mydomain).com/www to install but no pop up installer either. Nothing different.

Thank you in advance for all replies and help!
