Credit card numbers being replaced suddenly

Hi

We have credit card as a payment option on our shopping cart but lately the numbers in admin are being replaced. Instead of having something like
1111 1111
in admin, we are seeing
(Last 4) 1111
The other numbers are being received in the email fine but we are 4 numbers short and cannot process the order. We are having to phone our customer and ask them for the other numbers.
We have added edit orders and quick updates to the site and we are wondering if these may be messing with the process.

Have you added any new code recently? Has your host changed anything?

I read another thread for a slightly different cc problem and it suggested to uninstall the cc module and then reinstall it. This seems to have worked for now so Im hopeful we wont have a repeat of the problem.
