    Default Shipping taxation rules

    Hi guys,

My store is selling Books, CDs, eBooks and MP3s. The problem is that these are the taxation rules:

    1. All books in print: No RST on product; no RST on shipping
    2. All CDs: RST on CD and shipping is charged to the customer
    3. All ebooks, mp3 and pdf: no RST and no shipping

where RST is the ontario sales tax.

I've managed to set up product taxation following these rules (I assigned RST taxabale and RST non-taxable tax classes that charge GST for all products and on a per-product basis I assign the RST taxable rules) but I don't know how to set up shipping in that RST needs to be charged on shipping for items that are charged RST and not charged on shipping where items aren't charged RST.

    Any ideas?

Zen Cart handles shipping taxes at the per-order level, not at the per-product level.

I think you'll need to write custom code to rip apart the current method and reconstruct it differently if you want to handle it at the per-product level.
