Default Upgrading from cart in root

I've got two sties I'm upgrading that I set up the original cart in the root directory. I've got the new versions in a separate folder (shop). How do I now swap them? The instructions for upgrading, which were a big help, assume both the old and site are both in folders.

    BACK UP First...

    Remove the root install
Move the /shop install(files) to the root
Edit the 2 configure.php files to reflect this change
Possibly get and run the fix cache key module
    Thst is about it

By jsut deleting all the files and directories? I don't recall seeing any 'uninstall' option.

Thank you! And probably a good reason to put it in a folder. No need to delete to old/previous install. What do they say about hind sight?!?
