    Default CSS problems, still...

    When I go in and make changes in my stylesheet, either nothing happens, or something totally different happens (like I will be trying to change a color and the whole page goes haywire)

    Now I have made the navigation line white but can't figure out how to change the text color!

    What browser do you use? Firefox has some great dev tools so you can look at page details. That may be a good place to start if you aren't too comfortable with the stylesheet. Unless there is something else going on with the site, its all in the css. Some things are easier to find than others though..

    change the highlighted portion to the color you want (anything but white)

    #navMain ul li a, #navSupp ul li a, #navCatTabs ul li a {
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 0em 0.5em;
    margin: 0;
    color: #ffffff;
    white-space: nowrap;
    }

    Same place just add a font-size: 1em;

    Another point I noticed:

    You might want to go into

    admin -> configuration -> layout setting

    and change the width of your columns to just a bit wider than your sideboxes:

    Column Width - Left (set to 170px)
    Column Width - Right (set to 170px)

    This will give you sideboxes a little breathing room.

    thanks for the tip! I tried that but the sidebox just grows along with the column.....

    is there any specific place to put the font size? (I also want to change the size of the sidebox text)
    It seems like sometimes the changes I make take a while until they appear. Not always... any reason why this might be happening?

    You can put the font-size anywhere within the declaration.

    add font-size for the sideboxes in the:

    #navColumnOne, #navColumnTwo declarations
