Attribute Issues

Hi- It's me again...

OK, I have pendants- I'd like to sell them either plain or engraved. I love the idea of the attributes but ... after trying a few things, (I've only bothered with one product until I get the settings correct) I have a couple of issues...

I set it up with $0 as the base price- as I read in many places. I set up two attributes- right now they have check boxes (but that's not really what I want). One is to purchase one plain for $12.50 and the other engraved for $22.50.

Issues:
#1 - The display price is showing $35 - The total of the two attributes - I'd like it to say "Starting at $12.50"

A good point is that they show up in the cart correctly- (if I check one of the boxes)

However- that brings me to problem #2

If I don't select an attribute... The price goes in my shopping cart at $0 and that is really not a good thing!

I would really like for a customer to have the text box to enter what they would like engraved on the pendant. I tried that first but I thought it was a problem.

Any suggestions - I really have read all of this - I went through the tutorial too!

You can make one of them a default

Click the Update Sort Order and the Default Sort Orders will be set ...

Now the customer has to make a "real" choice as the Option Value Preference cannot be added to the cart ...
