You could turn it on in the Product Listing ... this is available on the Category links, Manufacturers' links and the Search Links ...

I checked product listing. I dont see how any of those options activate a clickable alphabet at the top of the page or anywhere. Is there any where else to look ?

    THanks.

In the Configuration ... Product Listing ...
Include Product Listing Alpha Sorter Dropdown
Do you want to include an Alpha Filter dropdown on the Product Listing?

    true
    false
That would give you a dropdown of the alphabet ...

You'd have to do some re-writting of the code but it could be done ...

Has anybody done it? I see a lot of questions about it on the forum, but it seems nobody has done it yet. I don't know enough about programming to do it myself. I wanted to put the letters in a sidebox where they could be clicked on.

I was going to give it a try myself and start by putting the drop down list in a sidebox, but I can't even find the code for the original drop down list. Can anyone point me to the correct file?

    Thanks.

I was able to locate the file includes/modules/product_listing_alpha_sorter.php and that gave me the code for the drop down box. I was able to place the drop down list into a sidebox (using the Blank Sidebox download).

However, the drop down list does not change the product listing when a letter is chosen. Also, I get the word "Array" at the bottom of my sidebox.

And, of course, I still have a drop down list rather than a table setup of the alphabet links. I am gaining progress, but I am quickly reaching my knowledge limit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a similar solution - a list of alphabet letters across the top instead of the product categories. Clicking on a letter generates a page with only products beginning with that letter

However, my situation is even more complex. It's for a nursery selling plants and other items online, so "Plants" is only one of several top-level categories.

I want an alpha menu that will only pull product names from the Plants category.

And I'm very new to PHP so I need really specific suggestions.

    Many thanks in advance.
